Seeking Jesus

John 6:68-69 “Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”

During uncertain times, it is important to remember that God is able to provide, not only for our physical needs; but, more importantly, for our spiritual needs.

In John chapter 6, Jesus had just fed about 5,000 people. The following day, those same people began looking for Jesus and His disciples. When they finally found Jesus, they asked, “Rabbi, when camest thou hither?” Jesus, we have been looking for You, and finally, we have found You! Where have You been? Jesus responded, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.” Jesus reveals to us the real reason these people sought to be His disciples.

Many of these news followers were seeking Jesus to meet their physical need again, but were not interested in Him meeting their spiritual needs. As a result, many of these disciples left Him altogether. They missed the "Bread of Life" for the bread of life.

Jesus turned to the twelve disciples and said, “Will ye also go away?” This is where we find Peter’s wonderful answer that we read earlier in John 6:68-69, “Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”

What might Jesus be attempting to teach us during uncertain times? Where will we turn? Who are you seeking? Seek Jesus, because He is the Son of the living God, and only He can provide us with eternal life! He is enough for every physical and spiritual need today!
